CIM's chief exec post goes to PA Consulting man

The Chartered Institute of Marketing has named Peter Fisk, a management consultant, as its chief executive with a brief to make it the world's leading professional body for marketers.

Fisk takes over the reins of the 92-year-old institution on February 1, reporting to a newly-elected board of trustees.

The 35-year old replaces John Stubbs (61), who has run the CIM since July 1999.

Formerly head of marketing practice at PA Consulting, Fisk is keen for the CIM to speak for the whole of the marketing profession.

One of his key aims is to raise the credibility of the profession and get more marketing directors on to company boards.

"The CIM is well-known as the training ground of marketing, but has done less for more senior marketers," said Fisk.

"It needs to address the needs and ambitions of every level of marketer, of members and non-members, and of business in general," he said.
