LONDON - US car manufacturer Chrysler is searching for ad agencies for new global marketing projects.

According to reports, the marque is holding an open pitch for a fourth-quarter ad campaign, although its long-standing ad agency BBDO has been invited to pitch for the work. BBDO picked up the Chrysler and Dodge ad accounts in 2000.

It follows the appointment of Michael Accavitti as Chrysler's head of global marketing.

A Chrysler spokesman said: ‘As we launch a new company with a brand-focused organization, we are looking for fresh ways to communicate in the marketplace. As a result, we are currently soliciting creative input on a limited number of specific projects from a select group of agencies.'

Earlier this year, Chrysler formed a global strategic alliance with Italian manufacturer Fiat, with Fiat taking a 35% stake in the business.

Chrysler was forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April. The US government allocated the Detroit-based manufacturer a $4bn loan to help it through the global recession.
