Chrysalis beefs up Smooth Radio team

Chrysalis Radio Sales is taking on five team members for its new Smooth Radio contract and to cover recent departures.

A dedicated Smooth sales team will be enlisted, as revealed in Media Week on 13 March (page 5), comprising a controller and two brand developers. Separately, two senior account manager posts are to be filled to bolster the Chrysalis Sales team, following high-profile departures in recent months.

In March, group head of programmes Pete Simmons was poached by GCap Media to a similar role. In January, non-spot sales director Richard Brinkman was made redundant after six years.

John Legg, operations sales director at Chrysalis Radio, said the new senior account managers would "be likely to have a strong sponsorship and promotions background".

Chrysalis Radio Sales handles all GMG's London and national sales, except those for the two Century stations retained by GCap Media when it sold the licences to GMG last year.
