The bid is being orchestrated by David Lloyd, the managing director of Chrysalis' London talk station LBC.
It proposes a 24-hour talk station called GMBC. The website showcase can be visited at . It provides background on the proposal together with programming consisting of interviews with the organisers of this summer events Sky Festival and Manchester Pride and a live feed from LBC in London.
According to Chrysalis, the aim of the site is to invite ideas about the station and illustrate its news and views approach.
Outspoken LBC breakfast show presenter Ferrari will host an evening event in Manchester later this year to generate a buzz around GMBC. Chrysalis has promised GMBC will be personality-led and provide more local news coverage than any other Manchester commercial station.
If the format is selected by Ofcom following the October 5 deadline for applications, it will be the group's second station in Manchester along with the dance and R'n'B-focused Galaxy.
The new frequency will be able to reach an estimated audience of 1.4m adults.
Ofcom is currently examining the bids for the new FM licence for Liverpool, for which Chrysalis has bid with its adult rock format The Arrow, along with nine other contenders.
