The six-week series debuts on 16 May and will air every night on ITV1 and ITV2. The show features 12 celebrities - six men and six women - on a South Pacific island, who will be encouraged to pair off. The public will vote off one celebrity of each sex every week until only one couple is left.
Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty will host the show; the contestants are believed to include Abi Titmuss and Calum Best.
The sponsorship deal, negotiated between ITV Sales and Initiative, includes coverage on ITV1 and ITV2, interactive TV elements and a website, www. itv.com/loveisland. Chevrolet will build on its involvement via retail marketing activity.
Separately, to celebrate its 50th birthday in September, ITV is to distribute 拢2.5m of National Lottery funds to community groups. Viewers will decide to whom the money is awarded, with the competing projects being previewed on ITV regional news programmes.
