As part of this role, Chalk will be responsible for driving wider business strategy with a specific focus on building the planning capability in the region. He will report to SJ Kimm, the president of Europe RHQ.
Chalk said: "I see enormous potential to build on Cheil Europe’s strong existing foundations and am looking forward to getting stuck in."
The move comes after two years as global strategy director at the WPP’s Team Land Rover.
Prior to WPP, Chalk served as UK chairman and chief strategy officer at Saatchi & Saatchi EMEA and has also worked at Nokia, as head of brand communications.
The announcement comes on the back of a spate of senior level appointments at Cheil Worldwide. Recent additions include Duncan Cargill joining as creative director, Emma Perkins as Cheil UK’s shopper marketing creative director and Fiona Fitzgibbon as head of out of home.
Kimm said: "Over the past year Cheil has made a considerable investment in building a uniquely talented team with integration at its core."
