LONDON (Brand Republic) – UK commercial terrestrial broadcaster Channel 5 claims to be breaking even for the first time since its launch two years ago.
The station recently unveiled plans to clean up its football-, sex- and low-budget gameshow-based programming, following the announcement that majority shareholder, RTL Group, would increase its programming budget in order for the station to attract more advertising revenues.
The company operated on a programming budget of £130m for the first two years of its life and boasts a 6% UK audience share.
