'The Unseen Eric Morecombe' is a 90-minute documentary featuring home footage of the comic, most notably his father-of-the-bride speech at his daughter's wedding, as well as interviews with family and friends.
Comedy drama 'Shameless' from Paul Abbott, the creator of 'State of Play' and 'Clocking Off', is back on Channel 4 screens for a one-off Christmas special before its second run next year. The series features the dysfunctional Gallagher family, who live on a council estate in Manchester with a belligerent father and internet porn stars as neighbours.
'The Simpson's Alternative Christmas Message' sees Matt Groening's characters delivering a counterpoint to the 'Queen's Christmas Speech' at 3pm on Christmas Day.
There is also a 'Teachers' Christmas Special, bringing Channel 4's longest-running comedy drama to a yuletide finale with the first wedding of the series and a surprise inspection from the school board Ofsted.
Also scheduled is 'Not Only but Always' is a feature-length drama based on comedy duo Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, starring 'Notting Hill' actor Rhys Ifans in his first major TV role. The series tracks Cook and Moore's first meeting, through their glory days in the 1960s from Private Eye to the movie '10', as well as the bitter split and attempted reconciliation before Cook's death in 1995.
Other shows include; a nostalgic look at 'Friends' in 'What Friends Did for Us', 'Quiz of the Year' where comedian Jimmy Carr will question a celebrities on the weirdest stories and most outrageous scandals of the year, and 'The Last Chancers' a brand new comedy series co-written by Adam Buxton from 'The Adam & Joe Show'.
On a more serious note, Channel 4 has also commissioned, 'Who Wrote the Bible?' featuring theologist Robert Beckford on a quest to the West Bank, Jerusalem, Rome and Turkey to discover whether the Bible was literally correct.
There is also a follow up to popular book 'The Da Vinci Code' with Tony Robinson on his own personal hunt for the Holy Grail in 'The Real Da Vinci Code'.
