Channel 4 appoints More4 head

LONDON - Channel 4 has appointed Hamish Mykura, currently head of documentaries, to lead its More4 channel.

The internal move comes as his predecessor, Peter Dale, returns to filmmaking.

Mykura oversees Channel 4's flagship documentary strand Cutting Edge that has just finished its current run, with ratings 57% up on last year. He joined Channel 4 in 2001 as commissioning editor of History.

Mykura has been responsible for Diana: The Witnesses In the Tunnel, The Human Footprint, Richard Dawkins's Enemies of Reason, Georgian crime series City of Vice and feature-length historical drama The Relief of Belsen, that won a Broadcast Award for Best Single Drama.

He will now take responsibility for all More4's output, including the True Stories documentary strand. Forthcoming True Stories include Kubrick's Cubes in which Jon Ronson examines Stanley Kubrick's private archive, Walter Salles' affectionate study of tango in Argentina, Caf沤 de los Maestros, and Brian Woods' Chosen, an expos沤 of child abuse at a British public school.

He will report to Kevin Lygo, director of television and content.
