Chandlee in running for Sky digital role

Yahoo! UK and Ireland commercial director Blake Chandlee has emerged as a candidate for Sky Media's newly created director of digital strategy role.

Media Week understands conversations between Sky Media and Chandlee have taken place, but no agreement has been reached.

There is also one remaining internal candidate, Paul Wright, who is currently head of business development for Sky Media.

Wright's company Aura Sports, which held the third-party online sales contracts for most major football club websites, was acquired by Sky Media in August this year.

Scott Deutrom, Sky Media's head of online sales, had also been in the frame. But he left the company last week to join online contextual advertising specialists Vibrant Media.

Media Week understands AOL's Andy Jonesco was also approached before his recent promotion from senior vice-president of audience for AOL UK to managing director.

It is believed Sky Media is also looking for someone to lead digital strategy acquisitions, reporting into Sky chief executive James Murdoch.
