Leo Burnett London has appointed the Mother creative director Chaka Sobhani as its chief creative officer.

Sobhani will join Leo Burnett in May and be part of the leadership team alongside the chief executive, Paul Lawson, the deputy chief executive, Sarah Baumann, and the newly promoted chief strategy officer, Josh Bullmore.

Justin Tindall, the former Leo Burnett executive creative director, moved to M&C Saatchi as its chief creative officer this week.

Before joining Mother in 2013, Sobhani was the creative director at ITV Creative. She led a team of 100, creating campaigns for ITV’s drama, entertainment and sport shows, as well as the branding for all channels and platforms.

Lawson said: "Chaka’s background is unique, having worked both agency- and client-side, as well as being experienced in production and an award-winning director."

Sobhani began her career as a comedy and performance writer, and has previously worked at Fox.

She said: "It’s an utter privilege to join an agency with such heritage and hutzpah, and with so many cracking people to boot. Can’t wait to get stuck in."
