The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport is looking to cut as many as 70 positions from its 700-strong staff.
"Any cost-cutting measures undertaken will not impact on The Celtic Manor Resort's capability to stage The 2010 Ryder Cup, or its ability to host other major events and conferences," said a company spokesperson in a statement issued to the press.
"Redundancy is not a step the resort would take lightly, but it is one of a number of efficiency savings being considered to ensure its operations remain competitive during the current global economic downturn," they added.
The Celtic Manor Resort is home to two hotels, three championship golf courses, a purpose-built convention centre and a 1,200sqm exhibition hall.
