CBS expands digital presence on Tube

CBS Outdoor is to roll out its digital escalator sites to 14 stations and double the number of digital LCD screens as part of its £72m investment programme for the London Underground.

CBS currently has 10 stations with digital escalator panels, the most recent being Knightsbridge, and is planning to increase this to 14 in early 2008.

Leicester Square will be the next station to be fitted with digital ad sites, which advertisers can buy according to the time of day.

CBS also intends to add a further 50 LCD screens in stations and is trialling a cross-track "media wall", already present at the Bond Street station. The company is also trying to boost interest in its Tube Car Panel format.

The outdoor firm's marketing director Carol Wolrich said: "(The Tube Car Panels) have been used for direct response, but many of these campaigns are going online. They are not 100% booked now. In the past, if you didn't book in advance, you didn't get them at all."
