Catherine Zeta-Jones revealed as new face of Elizabeth Arden

LONDON - Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has signed a four-year contract to become the new face and spokeswoman for global cosmetics and fragrance house Elizabeth Arden.

Zeta-Jones will appear in the company's new advertising campaign "Open for Beauty", which kicks off this month. However, the Welsh star of films such as Traffic, The Mask of Zorro and Entrapment will not appear in the ads until June 2002, which ties in with the launch of a new Elizabeth Arden fragrance.

Zeta-Jones said: "I have read masses about Elizabeth Arden. She was a visionary. As Miss Arden said, to be beautiful and natural is the birthright of every woman and I wholeheartedly agree with her philosophy."

The previous face of Elizabeth Arden was blonde model Amber Valetta. Her contract was up two years ago, but the model continued to appear in various promotional shots for the company.

Ron Rollerston, executive vice-president at Elizabeth Arden, said: "Catherine Zeta-Jones personifies the essence of the Elizabeth Arden brand, as she is the epitome of personal style, elegance and sophistication."

Elizabeth Arden's portfolio includes Red Door, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea and 5th Avenue, as well as producing Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds and Passion.
