Castrol returns to TV after four-year hiatus

Castrol, the motor oil and lubricant manufacturer, is to return to national TV advertising after four years.

The brand is supporting the TV ads with a £3m integrated campaign including online activity and ads in newspapers, automotive and football titles.

The TV ads, which break in May, have been created by Ogilvy and promote Castrol's Magnatec and Edge motor oil brands. Print and online activity starts later this month.

Castrol has signed up to sponsor Euro 2008 as part of a strategy to raise its profile by targeting consumers who are unfamiliar with its range.

It has also launched a 'Best 11' website inviting fans to pick a dream team, and a competition offering the chance to win VIP tickets to the tournament's final.

Last year, Castrol launched a search for aspiring music producers to update the soundtrack of its 80s ads for its next global campaign.
