Auckland Castle, stately home of the Bishop of Durham, has had to lose all six members of their event team due to the financial crisis.
The board of directors of Auckland Castle Enterprises, made the decision to hire the catering company Ramside Event Catering to take over from the event staff after a drop in bookings in 2008.
The Castle has held many weddings, confrences, food festivals and proms within their grounds, including the well-known BBC Anitques Roadshow in 2006.
It has been stressed that all bookings that have been made for 2009 will be "honoured in full".
