Carling launches promotion on Virgin Radio

LONDON - Carling has teamed up with Virgin Radio to promote its mid-strength lager, Carling C2, in a bid to drive drinkers back to the pub following the onset of the nationwide smoking ban.

Virgin Radio will run a series of advertorials featuring Ralph Little, star of BBC comedy series The Royle Family and Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, flagging up the advantages of drinking Carling C2 at certain times of the week, such as Friday lunchtime.
The campaign, planned by Aegis media agency Vizeum, will feature tailored 50 second ads aired on the relevant drinking days.
Emap will run a separate campaign across its radio network while GCap Midlands Radio network will air a drivetime promotion, incorporating the tagline "Never thought you could..." featuring various Carling C2 giveaways and competitions.
Finally, Vizeum has teamed up with Cake Media to develop a high-profile experiential promotion, which will see DJs on radio stations across Birmingham and Newcastle giving details of pub locations where listeners can enjoy a lunchtime acoustic session and a free pint of Carling C2.
