Yes. One example of this is our dress-down policy. You very rarely see suits in the office. Even the chief executive doesn't wear a suit to work every day. Also, we're allowed to play music in the office. You get everything from Limp Bizkit to Kylie.
How many of you are there in the marketing department?
There are approximately 100 people - 40 in our London office and 60 in our Derby office. Marketing includes the internal design team and people who manage the data.
What does your job involve?
There's a range of things that the department gets involved in. We have an internal team of designers, who do things such as our online advertising.
We have people who work on brand communications and deal with things like our TV advertising.
The campaign teams are more sales-driven and look after specific products such as Egg cards, loans, savings. There are people who look after customer data and a PR team.
What are the hours like?
Pretty flexible. Employees can work standard hours, about 9am-5pm, but Egg's quite flexible, especially for people with families.
What are the perks? Do you get interest-free credit?
I wish we did. But Egg offers a very good benefits package that includes a bonus structure and company car.
What's the age, gender and ethnic mix like?
People at Egg are generally young. People in the marketing department are aged between 20 and 45 but the majority are between 20 and 35. There's about a 50:50 split on gender. Egg is very multicultural - we employ a mix of nationalities.
What opportunities are there for career progression?
Career progression across the company is very good. You can change department if you've got the right qualifications. Or you can move up in the marketing department.
Egg has a good training policy. There's in-house training as well as external courses that people can go on. Also, if there's a course that we don't subscribe to, you can go on it if you put forward a strong enough argument as to why it's good for you and good for Egg.
How good is the pay?
The financial services sector pays well anyway and Egg pays pretty competitively in the sector.
