What is the main marketing challenge you face?
We need to ensure we offer products and services that are different and valued by our customers compared with the free NHS alternative. We constantly review our products and services, so that customers get access to the newest treatments, medical technology and research.
What are the hours like?
We work the hours necessary to get the job done well and have to remind people to go home occasionally.
What is it like for training?
BUPA provides excellent training and we encourage team members to develop their marketing skills through bodies such as the IDM and DMA. We have set up a creative development programme with external experts to ensure we are effective as a team, and have two students on placement with us each year.
What about the salary and benefits?
Very competitive.
How do you come up with ideas?
We start with key customer or market insights and then develop these into a relevant proposition and ideas. We also work with innovation companies and run creative challenges within the team to stimulate thoughts and ideas.
Is there anything interesting about the inside of your office?
We have a photo gallery with a picture of each team member, accompanied by 10 things you didn't know about that colleague.
Does the marketing team socialise outside office hours?
Our favourite haunt is Dukes in Castlefield, but we also have a departmental 'fun club' that organises activities and events outside work.
Does the company encourage you to get involved in the local community?
There is a fantastic programme that encourages all employees to volunteer for projects such as restoring community centres or reading programmes with underprivileged children.
