Cardiff City FC trio sign up for Event Wales 2013

Cardiff City FC's manager Malky Mackay, striker Craig Bellamy and chairman Mehmet Dalman will speak at the Event Wales International Conference 2013 next month.

The trio will take part in a panel session entitled 'Wales: A Premier Destination' at the event on 5 December at Cardiff City FC's stadium.

They will discuss Cardiff City FC's rise to the English Premier League and debate the impact for the city and nation that comes from having two Welsh clubs in the top echelons of English football for the first time.

The panel will be led by Mike Lee, chairman of Vero Communications, who has experience in helping secure major sporting events in his previous roles as director of communications for the London 2012 Olympic Bid.

Cardiff City manager Mackay said: "I anticipate an interesting and informative debate about how the success of football in Wales is serving to help the country, its national economy and our local communities.

"It is vital that the country seizes its opportunities with the increasing attention now on it in the global sporting spotlight."

will open with a keynote address by the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, and will include a programme that examines the challenges and opportunities for Wales, the UK and the international event industries.

Having two Welsh teams now in the most watched league in the world is an opportunity not to be missed, which is why the Welsh government is working in close partnership with both Cardiff and Swansea to help us promote tourism and business opportunities in the capital city and across the whole of Wales."

Also speaking at the event are Hay Festival's director Peter Florence, England Rugby 2015 chief executive Debbie Jevans and Volvo Ocean Race chief operating officer Tom Touber.
