The new look incorporates the name, frequency and FM wavelength of the station in red, white and blue to create a bolder, more dynamic logo, which, according to the company, 'represents the energy of the station.'
Global Radio's group executive director and director of broadcasting, Richard Park, said: 'The new 95.8 Capital FM logo represents the people of London and their hit music station. The simplistic and vibrant design reflects the iconic status of 95.8 Capital FM as it moves forward as part of Global Radio.'
The changes come as Capital tries to woo back listeners after a period of decline. Recently it was forced to replace breakfast co-host Denise Van Outen with Lisa Snowden after Van Outen quit just five months into her 12-month contract. The station, which had previously been the leading commercial station in London, slipped to fourth place in the ratings for the first time last year, behind Magic, Heart and dance station Kiss, according to Rajar.
Capital's owner, Global Radio plans to invest £10m over two years in rebranding, marketing and in new content across its portfolio of stations, which includes most of the former GCap local stations, including Classic FM.
