CanWest names head of new Bristol station

CanWest MediaWorks UK has appointed Tom Hunter as managing director of its soon to be launched Bristol radio station, Original 106FM.

Hunter joins from Sunrise Radio’s Palm FM in Torbay, a station that he launched in May 2006. He was previously managing director of Emap’s Radio City and Key 103.
CanWest won the Bristol licence in September last year and plans to launch it this summer.
Rick Hetherington, managing director of CanWest MediaWorks UK, described Hunter as “one of the best station managing directors in the country” and praised the quality of the products and results he has to his name.
Hunter started his career in sales at Capital Radio and later IRS. He also worked in PR and promotions at LBC before being hired to launch Fox FM in Oxford in 1989. He was also a member of the Emap radio board until last October.
