Arnold Communications, the Boston-based agency that handles
Volkswagen in the US, has announced its intention to set up in the UK,
possibly as early as next year.
The agency, which won the Cannes press and poster Grand Prix for its VW
Beetle work last month, has climbed from 135th to 19th place in the US
in the past five years.
It went public six months ago when it backed into Snyder Communications,
a group of mainly below-the-line database and medical advertising
companies.
Funds released by the deal will now allow Arnold to buy agencies in the
US and the UK. It already has 14 agencies on the East and West coasts of
the US and in Canada.
Ron Lawner, the managing partner and chief creative officer of Arnold
Communications, said: ’Our next step has to be the creation of an Arnold
global network.’
Arnold Communications took the VW account from DDB three years ago,
despite having no car experience. It is the second largest McDonald’s
agency in the US.
