LONDON (Brand Republic) 鈥 Camelot has launched its High Court challenge to the Lottery Commission鈥檚 decision to exclude it from the race to win the lottery licence for the next seven years.
It says the Commission鈥檚 decision to hold talks solely with Sir Richard Branson鈥檚 People鈥檚 Lottery was 鈥渦nfair and discriminatory鈥. It claims it should have been given the chance to improve its bid alongside Branson.
The move comes after last month鈥檚 announcement by the Commission that neither of the two bidders had met the legal requirements for granting the lottery licence. Branson was given a month to come up with a £50m emergency fund, but Camelot鈥檚 dealings with software firm G-Tech and a problematic cover-up meant the company lost the Commission鈥檚 confidence.
