Cadbury rolls out Creme Egg cone for Easter market

Cadbury's Creme Egg is to launch a limited edition ice cream in the

six-week run-up to Easter, as part of a bid to drive up ice-cream sales

in a traditionally quiet period.

Manufactured by licensing company Fredericks Dairies, the Creme Egg ice

cream will only be sold as a take-home multi-pack of four. It launches

in supermarkets and some convenience stores on February 9, priced at

£2.49.

Fredericks hopes to generate sales of £2.5m.

Cadbury's Creme Egg ice cream is a wafer cone, lined with Cadbury Dairy

Milk chocolate and filled with vanilla ice-cream and a yellow fondant

centre.

Peter Elvin, marketing director for Cadbury ice cream at Fredericks,

said February is not an obvious time to launch an impulse ice-cream, but

hopes that the novelty value will make a take-home pack successful.

Creme Egg ice cream will be promoted with point-of-sale material.
