C4 turns to Chart Show

C4 turns to Chart Show

Channel 4 will replace its flagging morning show Ri:se with music programming over the coming weeks as it revamps Ri:se for relaunch in late January.

The broadcaster has acquired three programmes from Chart Show Channels, which also runs the TV channels Chart Show TV and Chart Show Shopping. The programmes, which include the singles Chart, the Album Chart and the Compilation Chart, will be broadcast as part of Channel 4's T4 schedule as it addresses the problems plaguing Ri:se.

Ri:se, the replacement for Channel 4's Big Breakfast morning show, launched in April last year. The programme was bombarded by criticism for having six presenters, one of which - Colin Murray - left in October.

Since then Kirsty Gallacher, Liz Bonnin and Chris Rogers have been axed from the show and Channel 4 is vowing to return Ri:se to screens at the end of the month using just two existing presenters - main anchor Mark Durden-Smith and entertainment news presenter Edith Bowman.
