The work is being done in order to create a central online, searchable and freely accessible point of reference for anyone looking for existing research or information on the UK events industry.

The research will be undertaken by Tony Rogers, of Tony Rogers Conference and Event Services, and Glenn Bowdin, head of the Centre for Events Management at Leeds Beckett University.

It will see both industry-generated and academic research, which has been produced since 2000, catalogued in an online directory.

Michael Hirst, chair of the BVEP, said: "This is a highly significant piece of research, commissioned by the BVEP and announced during National Events Month, which we believe will be of benefit to the entire sector.

"We judge this project to be unique and the first attempt of its kind globally to produce a comprehensive register of published events industry research."

The project, which focuses primarily on UK research, commences this month, with the first stage due to be completed by March 2016.
