The fly-on-the-wall documentary will follow Matt, Charlie and James as they try to make it big the US – a feat that has proven too difficult for stars such as Robbie Williams and Oasis.
Busted's launch in the US will be a coals-to-Newcastle type affair. They are being marketed as a clean and parent-friendly version of US pop punk acts such as Blink-182 and Sum 41.
The 10-week show will begin with Busted performing to 25,000 UK fans at their Exeter summer show before being whisked off to the US.
The band has recorded two multi-platinum-selling albums in two years and has two Brit Awards to its name.
"America or Busted" will be shown on US and European MTV stations and is a joint venture between MTV UK and US-based MTV2.
Busted's most recent number one was the theme tune to the new "Thunderbirds" film, which flopped at the box office.
