On Tuesday it emerged that .
According to media analyst Screen Digest, Vue has 18% of the UK's cinema screens and a 23% market share by ad revenue, meaning its loss will halve Pearl & Dean's share of cinema screens to 20%.
Kathryn Jacob, chief executive, spoke to Media Week after the announcement. She said: "As far as I am concerned it is business at usual. There is still the same number of agencies to go and see and there is still the same number of businesses to pitch for."
Jacob declined to comment on whether there would be any redundancies or changes to Pearl & Dean's structure at a later stage. She said: "[it is] too early to say... It is not our plan to slash and burn."
Jacob said she was confident Pearl & Dean could provide a competitive alternative to DCM. Jacob said: "We have had a good track record of growing share from DCM since 2008."
"The fact we are responsible for a higher number of independent cinemas would indicate that we have a different offering to DCM."
Screen Digest said Pearl & Dean could now focus on servicing the layer of exhibitors below the big three cinema chains and maintaining its position with the UK's independent exhibitors.
Jacob said: "The cinema industry is going to go through a massive period of change and it will be 50% digital by 2012.
"There is an increasing amount of alternative media out there. Things could be done differently and new people could come into the sector."
