Burger King to target kids through <BR>movies and TV

LONDON - Burger King has stepped up its marketing campaign against rival McDonald's by signing a marketing deal with movie studio DreamWorks SKG, as well as a new agreement with children's cable TV channel Nickelodeon.

The DreamWorks deal will see the burger giant promote the next five movies from the studio, including the sequel to the recent box office hit Shrek.

Burger King will also have first refusal on any marketing deals to arise from all "future live action television music and home entertainment properties" from DreamWorks, said a statement.

Burger King is working to develop its children's menu after its children's marketing was hurt by the recall of potentially harmful toys that accompanied its Kids' Meals and Big Kids' Meal.

The company, owned by Diageo, is said to be trying to close the gap between it and rival McDonald's, which currently dominates the kids' fast-food market.
