Kisilevsky had been vice-president of marketing for the EMEA region since 2008, having joined the chain in 2006.

It is unclear whether he has a job to go to. Burger King confirmed the departure and said that a replacement would be appointed in due course.

Before joining Burger King, Kisilevsky spent more than 19 years at Leo Burnett, where he ran the McDonald's advertising account. He was credited with developing Burger King's male-focused marketing and driving its shift to more pre-mium offerings.

Kisilevsky reported to Kevin Higgins, president of Burger King EMEA. Country-specific marketers, including UK marketing director Sarah Power, reported to Kisilevsky.
