From next summer, BT Vision will show live or near live coverage of 75% of all FA Premiership football matches as well as games from the Scottish Premier League, Nationwide Conference and European leagues.
BT will also offer its own on-demand sports content when customers will be able to choose between any of 46 live match broadcasts or using the broadband-powered on-demand service to select their own viewing schedule.
The service will work via a smart card connected to the BT Vision set-top box or through a pay-per-view system. Dan Marks, chief executive of BT Television, has hinted at future deals with Setanta following this partnership.
BT has signed deals with a variety of organisations, including MTV, Paramount, Nickelodeon, Endemol, DreamWorks and Emap.
