Ramsay had been covering the role on an interim basis after the previous incumbent in the post, David James, was shifted to another part of the business.
Ramsay joined BT in 2007 and has held a number of commercial and marketing roles. His most recent position was customer acquisition director, where he oversaw BT's new ads ‘Behind the Scenes’, a parody of the advertising process that includes celebrities and BT clients.
Prior to that he played a major role in launching BT Sport, and also led the introduction of dual and triple play bundles into BT. He is currently a member of ISBA’s council.
Pete Oliver, BT consumer commercial marketing and digital managing director, said the appointment "supports BT’s strategy to develop and nurture talent within the business".
"Dan is a key member of the consumer marketing team and has played an instrumental role in a number of recent marketing campaigns," he added.
Ramsay said: "It is a really exciting time to be leading marketing activities for BT Consumer. I am looking forward to showcasing the breadth of BT’s broadband, TV and sport consumer offerings through a range of entertaining and informative campaigns."
It has been a year of upheaval for BT’s marketing department. As well as James' departure from the marketing department, the BT’s marketing and brand director Suzi Williams left the business this month after more than a decade at BT. Earlier this year, Zaid Al-Qassab joined in the newly-created role of chief brand officer.
