BSkyB marketing boss Andy Brent has left the broadcaster

LONDON - Andy Brent, group brand marketing director at BSkyB, has parted company with the pay-TV broadcaster just one year into the job, Brand Republic can exclusively reveal.

His departure was confirmed in an internal email sent by Jeremy Darroch, BSkyB's chief executive, to staff on the brand marketing team in the last hour. It is not known at present if Brent has a job to go to.

His duties will be taken on by Robert Tansey on an interim basis until a replacement is confirmed.

The email read: "It is with regret that I inform you that Andy Brent has left the business as of today. He leaves with our thanks for his contribution to Sky over the past year and with our best wishes for the future."

, replacing former director of communications and brand marketing, Matthew Anderson.

Brent reported directly to Jeremy Darroch and had a seat on the company's executive committee.

In his role, Brent was responsible for an annual budget in excess of £100m. Prior to Sky, Brent had a onsultancy role handling the Department of Health's £75m obesity pitch and before that he spent three years at Boots, rising to the role of group brand director.

Prior to Boots, Brent was chief marketing officer at Burger King International, having begun his career with a 13-year stint at Procter & Gamble.

In the year that Brent worked at Sky, , adding 462,000 new subscribers.

Sky declined to comment.
