Following a successful launch in the US, One.4 Chardonnay and One.6 Merlot will be rolled out to the on-trade next month, with the names intended to indicate how many carbohydrates are in a single serving.
Matthew Clarke will distribute the wines, and has secured listings with pub chains including JD Wetherspoon. The launch will be supported by marketing activity in pubs and bars. Brown Forman is also in talks with a number of major UK retailers about securing off-trade distribution.
The wines, unlike others that claim a lower carbohydrate level, have not been scientifically altered: the grapes have been selected for their naturally low sugar content.
Weight Watchers markets a slimmers' wine to its members, with varieties including Rose and Riesling.
