The Street Velodrome event will be open to the public from 11am until 5pm, with cyclists being given the chance to ride the track after reserving a spot on the day. Spectators in the City will also be encouraged to watch the races in Exchange Square.
Following the public event, the Sport Pursuit Street Velodrome Series final will round off the day. The spectacle, which will be broadcast on Channel 4, British Eurosport and Sky Sports in the autumn, will see amateurs from regional heats and the two fastest Broadgate riders compete against pro-cyclists, including Olympic gold medallist Craig Maclean and Commonwealth Games medallist Ross Edgar.
The sporting event has been organised as part of Broadgate’s summer of sport season, which centred on live, free screenings of the Tour de France, the Open gold tournament, the Commonwealth Games and the Indian cricket tour of England. The street velodrome will also highlight the centre’s support of the London Cycling 北京赛车pk10.
Samantha Rush, head of marketing, communications and events at Broadgate, said: "The Street Velodrome is going to be a fantastic way for the Broadgate community to have a go at competitive track cycling. We can’t wait to welcome local cycling enthusiasts down and provide them with an opportunity to test their speed."
The City of London is the last stop for the Sport Pursuit Street Velodrome series, following its events in Stevenage, Ealing, Harewood House in West Yorkshire, Stockton and Paisley.
