The Premier League football club has reported interim pre-tax profits of £30.9m, up from £17.3m last time. The world's most famous football club saw income from television-related deals increase by 60%, rising to £24.2m from £15.1m last time.
The profits surge comes as the club's matches get ready to begin broadcasting in the US for the first time.
Manchester United's games will be shown on the New York Yankees cable station, Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network (YES).
The games will begin broadcasting on April 20 with the first match to be United's clash with Chelsea. A total of 20 soccer matches will air, including games against Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic.
The TV deal is the first of its kind for a US broadcaster to show the games of an English team regularly to US audiences. YES will sell advertising on the back of the broadcasts and will share an undisclosed percentage with Manchester United.
The broadcasting deal follows last July's marketing agreement between Manchester United and the New York Yankees, which was at the time described as the biggest joint-marketing deal in the history of sport.
The marketing agreement created a sports cartel that included the New Jersey Devils ice hockey team and the NBA’s New Jersey Nets, alongside United and the Yankees.
The agreement followed a similar deal the Yankees’ parent company, YankeeNets, penned with the NFL’s New York Giants. That marketing deal saw the two teams sell and promote each other’s merchandise.
