The British Red Cross drives web revenues

The British Red Cross (BRC) has launched an e-commerce facility to drive its online fundraising.

Created by digital agency Baigent, the web shop aims to maximise sales opportunities by selling 1,500 items, including gifts, cards, first-aid products and educational books.

Popular product lists, based on real-time data, also feature.

This extends the BRC's existing fundraising via direct mail, mail order and telephone, and aims to build on the site's success in raising donations online.

Dorothea Arndt, new media manager at the BRC, commented: "This is an important development for us, and we believe e-commerce is an accepted and necessary progression."
