tennis tournament, having secured the live broadcast rights last

sponsor over the next few weeks.

Simon Reed - that includes 1983 semi-finalist Jo Durie and former

Eurosport's build-up to the tournament will start this week with
coverage of five warm-up tournaments in Stanford, San Diego, LA, Toronto

European distribution rights. This means the channel could sell the
rights for certain matches, such as the semi- and quarter-finals, to
other broadcasters throughout Europe.
By securing the rights to the US Open, Eurosport has expanded its tennis
portfolio, which includes live coverage of the Australian and French
Opens, Wimbledon highlights, 27 Sanex WTA events and 15 ATP tour
events.
Eurosport is predicting record audiences for its US Open coverage, with
last year's winners Venus Williams and Marit Safin battling to defend
their titles.
Eurosport pulled in more than 46m viewers with its coverage of this
year's Australian and French Opens.
