The venue revealed a select number of tickets purchased through the deal website will not be honoured due to an administrative oversight as well as for legal health and safety reasons.
In a statement Bristol Zoo said: "It is with regret, that due to an administrative oversight, we are unable to honour a select number of tickets to our Enchanted Christmas event on Friday 20 December.
"So much effort has gone into this event and all three nights will still be going ahead as planned but unfortunately, due to legal health and safety requirements, we’ve had to cut back a small proportion of tickets to Friday’s event."
The venue said it will offer a higher value alternative, or free tickets to the zoo between now and February, to those customers that have been affected by the decision.
Members of the public took to Bristol Zoo’s Facebook page to comment on the matter. Louise Markham said: "Over sold tickets like they did last year. Last year they didn't cancel anybody and it was a joke how busy it was. Poor show Bristol Zoo you need to sort it out for next year."
Jackie Wright added: "Why don’t you [Bristol Zoo] do a couple of extra days for those poor children being disappointed."
Livingsocial did not respond to Event’s request for comment at the time of going to press.
