VR will be used to give supporters an up-close-and-personal view of the players' warm-ups, place them in the tunnel as the players step out onto the picth and put them at the heart of a goal celebration.
The experience is the first of its kind in UK sport. Having launched on 29 October at the Brighton & Hove Albion v Norwich City home game, VR headsets will be exclusively available in the family stand at the stadium for all home games, starting with the match against Aston Villa on 18 November.
Brighton & Hove Albion’s head of marketing, Tom Gorringe said: "We are always looking at ways to improve the matchday experience at the Amex. We are proud of our reputation as providing the best experience in the EFL and it's our aim to offer new and exciting opportunities to fans of all ages. The virtual reality experience is completely unique. All of the footage was shot live at a match and it takes you into the heart of the action to places that fans wouldn’t be able to go."
The family stand at the Amex now also includes new artwork, featuring interactive quizzes, a replica dugout, photo opportunities and a batak-wall reaction game.
Gorringe continued: "The other aspects of the stand are interactive and in some aspects, educational, and so we hope that this will prove extremely popular with our supporters."
