In brief

Media Week, Panini, Five, Closer, Heat, New!, Hello!, River Publishing, Vizeum, Ofcom

Media Week is calling for entries for the 2007 GCap Radio Planning Awards. The awards recognise insight, creativity and innovative thinking and are open to all media agencies and advertisers who have run campaigns on any commercial radio station in 2006. Judging will be next April, with the winners to be announced next May. Prizes include cash and a trip to see any band anywhere in the world. More information at www.gcapawards.com.

Panini has acquired Bliss magazine and its website, mybliss.co.uk, from Emap, in a deal expected to be completed in the New Year. Commercial staff on the title will continue to work on Emap's young women's magazines, More! and NW.

Five is to support five homeless charities through its on-screen idents over Christmas. Starting this week, the word "give" appears alongside the word "five", supporting each of the charities' Christmas appeals.

Celebrity weeklies continue to drive growth in the women's weekly market, according to the latest National Readership Survey. Closer, Heat and New! all recorded double-digit readership growth, though Hello! lost a 10th of readers in the past year, despite an ABC growth.

The ABC is launching an Enhanced Product Report that will show figures for both print and online audiences for the same brand in one report.

River Publishing has won the contract to publish The Address Book magazine for estate agent Hamptons International. River will publish four editions, covering London, central England, the South and the North, to be mailed to 300,000 targeted addresses and given away in branches.

Vizeum and the Media Planning Group are going head to head in a winner-takes-all pitch in Amsterdam to secure the pan-European media planning and buying account for US dental company Align Technology.

Submissions to Ofcom on the "Future of Radio" have so far concentrated on digital radio. Deadline for submissions is this Thursday.

This is the last issue of Media Week in 2006. The first issue of 2007 will be published on 9 January.
