
The ‘Lap of Honour' campaign, supported by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, is raising funds to provide the Armed Forces with quality entertainment while they are serving in locations such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
Brands that donate £1,000 will have their logos added to the website, www.bff.org.uk. Sponsors so far include BT, M&S, Jaguar/Land Rover, British Airways and Tetley.
‘I know the work of The British Forces Foundation is much valued by the Armed Forces, in particular the way it encourages a dazzling array of performers to entertain personnel in the most hostile of environments,' said Gordon Brown. ‘I would encourage UK businesses to dig deep and donate to help the charity hit its £100,000 fund-raising target.'
As part of the ten-month campaign, the BFF to attempting to convince 50 British icons to autograph a white MINI. So far Sir Michael Caine, Lewis Hamilton, Kate Moss, Joe Calzaghe, Sir Elton John, David Beckham, Rod Stewart and Joanna Lumley have all donated their autographs.
The car will be auctioned on 3 July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
