Brands Hatch Circuits hires boss

Brands Hatch Circuits (BHC), the motor sports arm of sports firm Octagon, has poached senior Walt Disney resorts marketer Alasdair Farrimond to lead the marketing of venues including Silverstone at a critical time for the company.

Farrimond, who was head of travel industry marketing for Disney's Parks and Resorts division in London, joins BHC as it attempts to transform its financial performance in readiness for a possible sale by parent company Interpublic.

The company, formerly known as Octagon Motorsports, was recently rebranded to distance itself from its troubled parent.

Reporting to BHC managing director Andrew Waller, who was recently promoted from the position of sales and marketing director after also joining from Disney, Farrimond will have a seat on the management board and be group marketing manager.

Farrimond was chosen for the post because of his background in the entertainment and motor industries, having held marketing jobs at both Proton Cars and Universal Studios Escape.

His key priorities will be to develop BHC's marketing for events, corporate and retail sales to increase revenues at circuits including Brands Hatch, Donington and Silverstone, where the Foster's British Grand Prix is staged.
