The retail environment of Virgin Cars Manchester, created by Marketplace Design, is based on research by Virgin into what consumers want when buying a new or nearly new car. It found that most customers want to buy without a hard-sell from a salesman and that they appreciate impartial, honest advice.
The three-acre site off the M602 will house an informal, state-of-the-art showroom, displaying a large number of the range of vehicles that can be ordered at virgin.com/cars.
Customers will be able to test-drive the vehicles, and a part-exchange facility will be offered, along with finance and after-sales support.
Chief executive Ian Lancaster said the outlet would combine the strengths of traditional and online retail.
However, the launch could also be seen as an admission by Virgin Cars that online sales are slowing.
Virgin Cars, which was set up by Virgin Group three years ago, has appointed Black Hole as its creative agency to create advertising to promote the Manchester showroom site.
