Branding: Russian vodka in UK launch drive

First Drinks Brands is backing the UK launch of premium vodka brand Russian Standard with a heavyweight TV campaign.

The distributor is aiming to tap into the growing premium end of the vodka market, which is worth almost £1.9bn in the UK, according to ACNielsen.

Launched in 1998, Russian Standard is distilled in St Petersburg and has three variants: Original, priced £11.99 a bottle, Platinum, £14.49, and Imperia, £29.99.

First Drinks, which is owned by distiller William Grant & Sons, said it hoped the brand's credentials would help it fulfil its ambitious growth plans.

The TV campaign will be backed by sales promotions and PR initiatives to raise brand awareness.
