BRANDING: Onitsuka Tiger in Bruce Lee Tai-Chi trainer giveaway

Onitsuka Tiger, the shoewear manufacturer which owns the Asics and Tiger trainer brands, is re-issuing a limited edition of the yellow-and-black Tai-Chi shoes worn by Bruce Lee in his most famous films, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death.

Thirty pairs will be released initially, hand-delivered in takeaway-style packaging, complete with chopsticks, two portions of laces and a fortune cookie, to 30 'sneakerheads' - opinion-formers who are enthusiastic about trainers and are likely to boast about the gift to others.

A further 250 pairs will be released in their original Japanese boxes in July, available from selected stores across Europe. An online campaign will create a buzz around the brand.

The campaign, devised by BlueberryFrog, will coincide with the launch of the film Kill Bill, in which Uma Thurman will wear a pair of the trainers.
