BRANDING: Greenpeace creates forests campaign

Greenpeace has called on a dozen graphic artists to produce exclusive illustrations to act as the lynchpin for the latest phase of its 'Save or Delete' campaign to protect the world's ancient forests.

The campaign this year aims to raise awareness of the destruction of the last remaining rainforests in Indonesia, which suffers the highest rate of destruction in the world.

The illustrations aim to convey the urgency of the country's forest crisis.

The work will go on display at a special 'Save or Delete' exhibition at London's Oxo Tower from July 17 to August 4. The event is being sponsored by magazine Dazed and Confused.

The illustrations will also appear on posters, T-shirts and limited edition postcards. Greenpeace has secured editorial coverage for the campaign and the artists' work from magazines i-D, Sleazenation and The Face.

The campaign encourages consumers to buy products carrying the Forest Stewardship Council logo, which guarantees the wood or paper comes from environmentally and socially responsible forest management.

Separately, authors including Ben Elton and JK Rowling have pledged their support for an upcoming Greenpeace initiative to persuade publishing companies to use more paper from sustainable forests.
