- What would you be if you weren't a brand manager?
I'm actually a frustrated designer. Marketing was the only option for people that like scribbling pictures all day that have no actual talent.
- What advice would you give someone starting their marketing career today?
In this trade we can gorge on new ideas until we burst. The key skill you need is focusing on what's driving your business and not getting too distracted by all the sexy baubles and trinkets.
- What attracted you to your current job?
Great product, company spirit and culture. And my own parking spot.
- What was your first job?
Marketing firewalls and email routers for a great little company in Cambridge called ElectricMail.
- How did you get your first job?
After my degree (in marketing) I taught myself how to build websites using Dreamweaver, which was both very easy and impressed people more than my degree. Three years well spent.
- If you weren't you, who would you be?
That blue giant Smurf man in Avatar. Although he isn't him either, so that's a paradox.
- What languages do you speak?
I am useless at languages, but I can do fake-Danish. The trick is to say everything backwards in an aggressive tone. 'I EVOL YRRUC!'
- What's your favourite holiday destination?
Tuscany. It's wasted on Berlusconi.
- What have been your best and worst freebies?
Best: a vacuum-sealing Champagne bottle-stop - with some Champagne, obviously. Worst? No such thing. I'm grateful for all gifts in these recessionary times.
- Who's your dream brand ambassador?
Used goods, I know, but Mitchell and Webb. We like to think we're a fun, youthful brand like Webb, with the quality and authority of Mitchell.
- What's your favourite pub?
Any with soundproofed children's play pens for my noisy offspring to be deposited into.
- What hobbies do you have?
Geeky ones. Video games, movies and other kidult pursuits.
- What makes you angry?
Radio 1 presenters going on about Twitter. All. The. Time. Yes, I am jealous.
- What is your all-time favourite slogan?
'Don't be cocky - we can't all swan around like David Essex.'
- If you could get tickets to any event, what would it be?
2012 Olympics opening ceremony, please.
- What headline would you most like to read in Marketing?
'Noel Edmonds maimed by angry mob while presenting marketing awards.'
