Describe yourself in three words.
Curious, determined, creative.
What would you be if you weren't a brand manager?
An entrepreneur of some sort - taking one of my daft ideas and making it big.
What attracted you to your current job?
The chance to take a developing brand and make it bigger. Mattessons has posted 22% growth in the past two years and we're growing at 42% since the launch of our 'Hank Marvin' campaign.
What was your first job?
Tate & Lyle graduate training scheme. I tried my hand at a range of roles from factory to sales before discovering that marketing was my real passion.
If you were a brand, what would you be and why?
Mattessons Fridge Raiders: meaty, 100% genuine and appreciated by more girls than let on.
What is your favourite ever marketing campaign?
The Skyfall campaign was one of the most impressive - they really nailed every touchpoint. However, my favourite was the Adidas Predator football boots campaign in the 90s - as a consumer, I was hooked and, as a marketer, I love the way it repositioned the whole master brand.
What advice would you give someone starting their marketing career?
Listen hard, discover the whys, have an opinion, be brave, step up and work your nuts off.
What is your all-time favourite slogan?
'Guinness for strength.' I wish we could make up stuff like that now.
What makes you angry?
Inequality in the world and people who don't realise how lucky they are to live where they live and do what they choose to do.
What's your favourite holiday destination?
Anywhere in South East Asia - sun, sea and scuba; I just wish it was 10 hours closer.
How would you define marketing?
Smartly creating value for your consumers and your company.
If you could get tickets to any event, what would it be?
Rugby World Cup final, Wales vs New Zealand, with Wales winning by a convincing margin.
What have been your best and worst freebies?
The best was my Hank Marvin guitar from our latest campaign. Can't think of any bad ones - I don't get many.
What headline would you most like to read in Marketing?
'Genius marketer makes meat snacking a habit.'
What was your finest hour?
Proposing to my wife on top of a mountain while dressed as Robin Hood.
What are the perks of your current job?
The biggest perk is the sense of ownership and opportunity given me to ambitiously grow the Mattessons brand.
If you had three wishes, what would they be?
To run as fast as I want, make food appear, and for everyone else to have three wishes.
